Helger van Halewijn studied atom and molecule physics at the University of Utrecht. During his practical work at the University he developed skills in optics and fundamentals of applied laser physics.Already during his study he got experience with the application of thermally stable laser systems in the application of fluorenscence in Sodium vapour cells. This experience in the laser field could directly be applied during the beginning of his career at Drukker International as a developing scientist of laser cutting natural diamond. After a few years he got in charge of the development department, and developed many diamond applications in the field of electronical devices and space applications. At the Diamond Tools Groep B.V. he developed Excimer and Yag lasers for the processing of natural and synthetic diamond. He also has been at the INSEAD in France (Fontainebleau), for a training in Strategic R&D Management.
He developed skills to manage technology from the desired results towards the essentials technical elements. He also got involved in the strategic technical management within the holding of the Diamond Tools Group. In this way he was succesful in developing products and processes in a variety of application. His in depth knowledge of physical processes and theoretical back ground gives him the opportunity to come with fast but sensible solutions for the industry.
